Product of the month!!

Going to keep this product of the month short and sweet!

This month I have literally gone through tons and tons of Eylure Lashes! Being a northern girl, I love false lashes!! My favourite pair this month are Eylure 107’s - these are perfect for most looks and comfortable to wear throughout the day, giving you that extra length and definition without looking false. They really are the perfect lash and suit every eye shape. For a day look they are light and natural, wear them straight through to the evening by plumping them up with plenty of mascara and straight away you are transformed for instant drama!

It's Festival Time!

This week Radio one kicked off the summer with ‘The Big Weekend’ and here’s my top products to get this years hottest festival look!!!

Lets face it, we need to be low maintenance when it comes to braving the outdoors for a few days so radiant, glowing skin with a touch of the sun-kissed look is definitely the way to go.
Avoid foundation and instead go for a BB cream to even out your skin tone and make it as flawless as possible without having to use a base.

You need instant glamour without looking made up so go for a red lip and choose a texture that lasts. For me its Ruby Woo by Mac, as seen on Rita Ora and Iggy Azalea this weekend.

Keep it original by choosing a glitter liner or coloured mascara, those who dare definitely win in the style stakes.

If you are baring your legs be sure to bronze them up with a light coat of instant tan, preferably MAC Skinsheen Leg Spray. I love mixing it with a shimmery body lotion for added shine.

Not forgetting the essential items for any festival goer….. Nivea Cleansing wipes, Carex hand gel and of course the Cassie Lomas Bag is a perfect size to take all the essentials with you (coming soon).

This season the festival look would not be complete without a bit of Neon! I am already addicted to my fortnightly appointment for Gelish nails which are not only perfect for lasting agesssss, (no chips mid mud slide) but with the fab colour range they are guaranteed to bring the vibrancy that festivals deserve.

Bridgit Mendler - Hurricane video shoot

Bridgit Mendler

Recently, I was privileged to have had the opportunity to work with the amazing Bridgit Mendler, on the video for her latest hit single, ‘Hurricane’.
The song itself is really fun and energetic, so her styling obviously had to be a reflection of that.

I was assisted by Bekki Mitchell on the various sets and locations in London, it’s always a pleasure taking one of my ex students from CLMA! Bridgit was fantastic to work with and we loved coming up with the make up and hair brief together. I am really proud of the final look we created, I can’t stop singing the song and am thrilled that my work has been seen by almost 13 million viewers… wowsers…. Go Bridgit!!

Top Products…

We loved the MAC liquid eyeliner we used on Bridgit, it is really easy to apply, and you have the power to be very precise with it, which obviously allows for a cleaner application. With the energetic nature of the video, the excellent staying-power of the liner was very important, and it did not disappoint.

The second product I would absolutely recommend from the Hurricane shoot, is the Kiehl’s Super Thick Volumiser. As with the liner, staying power is really important when filming something like a music video, so I opted for this fantastic thickening spray, which helped to provide lift and support to Bridgit’s hair during filming, and again, it did not disappoint.

What is wreck my dress? The question not far from everybody’s lips at the moment…

Wreck my dress is a luxury  ‘5 Star’ makeover day with a difference. Rather than being told what you are able to do, instead, YOU are the boss. You decide where your experience is going to take you. If you decided maybe you wanted to leap from a plane at 20,000ft in your wedding dress? That’s not a problem. Or maybe you would prefer to be pampered by a team of professionals trained by our very own Cassie Lomas, Beauty Director with Wreck my Dress, at your very own photo or video shoot? Also in attendance, was one of the most famous dresses of recent years, a replica of ‘that dress’ worn by Pippa Midddleton at the Royal Wedding, one which gained worldwide acclaim at the time.  Inspired by the logo featured on the launch invitations, local designer Nadine Merabi crafted a unique dress especially for the occasion, which was worn by Emily Cunliffe and will be auctioned off in aid of the charity, Genesis.

With expectations high, the Wreck My Dress crew pulled out all the stops, and treated those in attendance to an adrenalin fueled show of stunts, martial arts and pyrotechnics. You could have been forgiven for thinking you had accidentally stepped onto the set of a Die Hard film!! But no, this was a fantastic showcase of talent. The evening was all about building a sense of intrigue, from the heart-thumping action, to the poignant beauty of ‘Rebecca’s Dress Stratos’; a moving, and inspiring piece that drew tears from the captivated audience as they heard the vows of unequivocal devotion and love. It was a truly sensory experience, and an evening that promises great things from the team at Wreck My Dress.

Guest Post- Emily Clarkson!

Charley Webbs Make Up for the British Soap Awards- Step-by-step!

After yesterdays post about the Soap awards, we have had some lovely emails asking how exactly to recreate the look so here is the 'how to' for you to follow by Emily Clarkson who created the look.!

This season dark eyes have been everywhere and teamed with a dewy base and nude lip, it is the perfect red carpet look but with a young and funky edge.

Charley wanted to go for glowing skin with dark eyes, so firstly I started by prepping the skin well using Embryolisse moisturiser. This is a fantastic moisturiser, a favourite by models and make up artists worldwide and is available from French pharmacies although you can buy it online, however it is a bit pricey! Using my fingertips I worked the moisturiser in well to ensure hydrated skin before starting any application.

This make up had to stay put all night so I used Shu Uemura priming mousse in Beige, my go-to primer. I used a very small amount of MAC Strobe cream in my hands and carefully placed on the tops of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose and cupids bow. This adds such a beautiful glow under your foundation.

I chose to mix together Illamasqua Rich Liquid foundation with Face and Body- these foundations have completely different consistencies and coverage but work so well together. If you apply with a brush you can really direct where you want the coverage to go. I started by applying with a flat brush then used a clean, round stipple brush to really buff the product into the skin. This allows it to really work with the skin.

After applying a flawless base, I then started on her dark smokey eyes. I used Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner over the whole lower lid up to the socket to create the depth of black that Charley wanted then used MAC Carbon to add the smokiness. Lashes were enhanced by adding some Ardel Wispy lashes to finish off the eyes

After giving the skin some time to settle with the base on, I then went back onto the skin with face and body foundation mixed with Clarins instant light complexion perfector to put some additional shine back into the skin. It always creates a younger fresher complexion when their is a radiant glow.

To contour I used soleil tan de Chanel with a MAC 130 brush to apply, using minimal product. On the tops of the cheekbones to give that glow I used pearl cream colour base and around the apples of the cheeks I used cream colour base in hush to give a subtle blush.

The look was finished with a dab of Mac lipmix in nude colours mixed together and just patted into the lips using a brush and a slick of gloss to avoid the lips drying out.
