I had the pleasure of a sneak preview of the new formula Bourjois little round pot eye shadows and they are fab! The history of Bourjois is fascinating... they have had a unique baked formula for over 150 years and it still remains a guarded secret today.
The Bourjois pots are in every make up artists kit and this new release is another must have. The colours are great and come in 22 shades. They can be used wet for added intensity and extra staying power. Best of all they are hypo-allergenic, fragrance and paraben-free so they are ideal for sensitive eyes.
As always the texture is super silky and they glide over the skin and need minimal blending. I am a huge fan of these anyway but the new formula has just topped what was already a fantastic shadow.
If you haven't tried them wet, do. Dip your brush into a little water, wiping off any excess and swirl into your colour. Apply as you would normally but keep edges neat or dab your finger over any lines to blend.
Contrast the colour with a few coats of mascara and for extra definition line the inner rim of your eye with black kohl.

Quick Fix make up for on the go Glam!
Morning make up is always a chore when you're a busy bee so I'm lucky after all these years I can slap it on in seconds.....
Maintenance is key to keeping the make up timescale to a minimum so make sure you spend 2 minutes a day to keep the following tip top....

For those of you who need a little practice at mastering make up in minutes, hopefully some of these tips will help get you started!
Maintenance is key to keeping the make up timescale to a minimum so make sure you spend 2 minutes a day to keep the following tip top....
- Hydrate skin - moisturise daily to keep a smooth skin. If you use a moisturiser with a little self tan you can cut down valuable time by ditching your foundation.
- Keep brows well groomed - it is amazing how much a great brow shapes your whole face so keep on top of the strays on a daily basis, it literally takes seconds
- Prep your pout - regular application of lip balm will keep lips soft and smooth so keep a chapstick in your pocket and sweep it on every few hours
Once you've got a good base, the rest can easily follow..... Here are 5 quick steps to make yourself up in minutes.
1. Brush brows into place with a bit of hairspray
2. Use a plumping mascara that only need 1 quick coat and only apply to the top lashes
3. Suck in your cheeks and rub in a cheek stain, it will last all day and put life into your look
4. Dab a matte concealer over blemishes, it will dry into skin so you don't need powder to set
5. Slide a satin lippy or a coloured gloss over your lips. For a wow look red is always a winner.
If you are stuck for what products to use, see below for some suggestions you can pick up from most supermarkets or save time and buy online with the links I've added......

Yasmin Le Bon for Manolo Blahnik
I had the pleasure of doing Yasmins make up for the Manolo Launch at Liberty.
She is absolutely stunning and a particularly easy canvas!
I must say though I was a little giggly meeting Manolo himself, I really love meeting designers whose art I admire.

Mens Grooming
I had a great day shooting with 3 guys. It always amazes me how rubbish they are with their skin and how little they know about male grooming and the basics of looking after themselves.
I am so pleased to say that my academy will be catering for those certain types who could do with a little help in the beauty regime field. If you think your man could do with some help visit
www.cassielomasmakeupacademy.co.uk for more info....... we aim to make them look like this!!!!

Cassie Lomas Make Up academy in the M.E.N
Cassie teams up with Kitten Jenny for beauty business
October 06, 2010
A former pop star turned TV makeover expert is joining forces with her childhood best friend to launch a business venture in Manchester.
Ex-Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost, who is from Prestwich, and make-up artist Cassie Lomas will open the Cassie Lomas Make-Up Academy in the Northern Quarter early next year.
The self-funded business will offer professional courses for those pursuing a career in fashion or film, as well as day-long packages for women looking to improve their own make-up skills.
The academy will also offer lessons for gentlemen who want to learn more about male grooming.
Cassie said: “I am confident that our academy will become a stepping stone into the fashion industry for young people.”
Cassie has enjoyed a 14-year career as a make-up artist and worked with clients including Lady Ga Ga and Coleen Rooney, while Jenny currently presents BBC Three makeover show Song, Marry Avoid?
While Cassie will head up the make-up side of the business, Jenny will run its in-house studio, which will be available for professional bookings as well as being used by students to build up their portfolios.
Jenny said: “I have always been interested in fashion so running the photo studio in my home town with my best friend is a dream come true.”
The academy, which opens in Little Lever Street in January, will offer courses from one day to nine weeks for classes of up to 12 students.
How to make your base stay all day!
I know that keeping your foundation on all day is a tricky one and people always ask what the secret is??
I have been using this for a while now but I only realised exactly how good it was when I forgot to put it on for a shoot last week. I knew it was good but my day was turned upside down without it!
It is a mousse and goes on easily, acting like a screen over the skin to leave a long lasting and flawless finish. It also has an SPF so we like it even more. It is priced at more the luxury end of the scale but as I always say... you get what you pay for!

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs
I was walking through Boots yesterday and was stopped in my tracks when I saw they sold this!
I spent last year on tour and went through cans of this stuff, but it wasn't really sold in the UK.... how inconvenient. So you can imagine my delight that you can finally get it in Boots.
Now there are lots of instant tans around but this is one of a kind. It works best if you spray it onto your hands and then rub it into your legs like a moisturiser. The coverage is superb and the finish is a flat colour so you can get away without looking like you're covered in colour if you apply it right.
For those of you with blemishes on your legs, this is the perfect tonic. Even better, it is non transferable which means it isn't going to rub off on everything in sight and if you do want rid, it washes off.
This is a product you'll try and love and even better is the price.... £6.99!

Lady Gaga - Video Music Awards
I love that Lady gaga is the talk of the world again for her 'Meat Dress' she wore at this weeks VMA's.
We all know to expect something completely original and a little bit mental but she always still manages to shock.
Again a display of her never ending creativity, as I have said before she is a true inspiration. I know some people may be up in arms about the dress but that's just Gaga and love it or hate it, you can't deny this girl has talent.
So as the dress has taken all the headlines I would like to remind everyone that after only 2 years in the limelight this girl has just won 8 awards!!!!!!!!
Congratulations Gaga, you're a Star! x

Witch Blemish Stick
I notice to my horror the other day that I was covered in spots! Now normally the odd spot doesn't bother me, I just whack on a bit of concealer and forget about it but to be faced with at least 10 all over my face was just too much to ignore. I luckily opened my bathroom cupboard to this little wonder.
It is a blue waxy looking stick that you sweep over any blemishes. It has a little sting to it if you put it on broken skin but to me that means it's working. So for the last 2 days I have covered myself in this stuff and I am happy to say I am now blemish free once more!

David Barton Nail Guru @ Percy and Reed
I had a very rare pampering session on Friday at my favourite hair salon Percy and Reed in London.
Now I find it difficult to relax at the moment with work, being a Mummy, setting up a new business and a new blog to write but I was literally stopped in my typing tracks with the delightful nail and hand experience I had with David.
I must be honest, I missed most of it until he started the most relaxing exfoliating and massaging on my hands. I couldn't help but start to forget about all the work I was supposed to be doing and actually spend a minute doing nothing! So to be forced to chill out was the start of my amazing day but at the end of it and 4 days later, I still have immaculate, super shiny and perfectly polished nails. I opted for Shellac, a new long lasting gel nail varnish which has a life span of 2 weeks. It is great for me at work because my nails are normally a mess and of course it is important that they always look good!
No wonder this man is the hand picked choice of all the celebs and beauty insiders....So if you are lucky enough to get an appointment book in with David and trust me you'll be hooked!

Bourjois Volumizing Mascara
Now firstly you need to know, I LOVE a mascara, I have no patience for layering and I don't really do natural. So to me finding a good mascara is a life saver.
I have been dying to tell you about this but thought I would wait until you can actually get your hands on it..... well now it's out!
This is what I call a 'Must Have'! This kind of volume you don't get with just any mascara, and in one quick application with no clumps. The brush really combs as well as adding product.
Now normally I don't have time for any 2 step products as I've always found them too time consuming and I hate the white layer you have to add first. Well this is completely different, let me explain....
So, step 1 is a subtle brush which I like to use for a more natural finish with volume, say if you were wanting a daytime look or were going to focus on the lips for your look. I also use this on the lower lashes as these can't quite take as much volume as the upper ones. See the brush below....
Now step 2 is using the same formula inside the tube and the same brush only the way you unscrew the brush allows a lot more product to go on it hence getting a thicker, fuller lash. The brush being the same means you still get the smooth application with no clumps and you aren't wasting any product if you just want to use one of the steps all the time but you actually have a choice without having to buy two mascaras.
I know this is my new staple product but I can't wait for you to all see how great it is too!
Chanel Face Self-Tanner
I've added a little sunshine into my life over the past few days. It goes by the name of Chanel Soleil Identite.
I admit I feel a little bit down when I see a pale face staring back at me in the mirror, I certainly can't carry off the 'pale and interesting' look. So I was thrilled to find this little face tan in a bag filled with products that I still need to try.
My problem with tans is often how time consuming they can be, I'm a wash and go kind of a girl so speed is key. This can be used as a moisturiser too and doesn't leave any tightness to my skin. I literally get out of the shower and apply a layer as I would my daily cream. It develops through the day and you can imagine my glee when asked if I had been on holiday again! The finish is golden and can be topped up daily to get your desired colour. After only 2 days I am brown enough and so now I just top up every few days.
If you like a bit of colour like me, give it a whirl.
Shade is Golden.

My Weekend Camping
I have spent the weekend camping....... yes... in a tent, in a field, with no make up!
I did however realise the importance of two of my staple products that I take for granted on a daily basis.
These are my Boots Cucumber Wipes, perfect for removing make up (or mud!) without drying my skin. They are normally on a 2 for 1 offer too which is always a bonus so I stock up on them. They are one of those products that people comment on and so I know they are good.
I also always have a little pot of paw paw with me. This little gem is well known in the make up scene and a favourite of models, artists and celebs. It is basically like a vaseline but does so much more....
I use it on dry lips, any cuts, spots, coldsores or burns as a quick cure but it is also a brilliant little enhancer for the no make up look. Brush a little over your lashes, brows, eyelids and lips for a healthy dew.

Marina and the Diamonds New Video
We shot the video for the new single Shampain last week in a park in South London. It was an all night shoot and we had such a great time.
The paparazzi found us and took some sneaky shots so here is a little peek at Marina's video look!
And Action!
What were we laughing at????

As soon as the video comes out I'll be doing a 'how to get the look' so keep your eye out for all my tips!
Reducing puffy Eyes
If you suffer from a little too much baggage under the eye area try using a little stimulation.....
A gentle rolling of a cool metal rollerball will help micro circulation under the eyes.
The cooling serum will refresh and hydrate puffy skin and help combat dark circles.
Give it a whirl.... Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-puffing Eye Massage
Follow on with a little light reflecting concealer to cover any dark areas.
I've tried so many of these concealers and the texture and colour is often so wrong. I stick to what I know and love and this is Bourjois Brush Concealer.
It is light and natural enough to wear without any other make up and if you need extra help try mixing it with a little of your normal thicker concealer to top up the coverage.

Pearl and The Puppets
I recently shot these pictures with an amazing photographer Amar Daved in a fabulous old pub in East London. It was such a great day and the whole team were amazing. The look was simple with lots of definition to the eyes.
Recreate this look....... here's how.......
Create a flawless base with a creamy foundation. Apply your foundation over the central panel of the face and use a brush to feather the base outwards. This will give a light, even coat and for more coverage top up a little in the area you need it. Choosing a semi matte texture will mean you don't have to apply powder.
Line the eyes all the way around with a liquid liner. I find resting your elbow on a table and looking into a little mirror the best way for a steady hand. Using an angled brush dipped into the liner will also give a straighter line. Start at the outer corner of the eye and sweep into the middle, then start at the inner corner and sweep out to the middle meeting the two lines together. Then use a small stroke to blend any edges. Repeat under the eye and go over with a kohl pencil to soften the edges and blend into the inner rim of the eye. A quick coat of mascara to finish.
Make sure your brows are well groomed for this look as the focus is on your eyes!!!
Use a little shadow or pencil to feather colour into any sparse areas and always finish by brushing through with a corkscrew brow brush to blend any colour.
Cheeks should be left to pick up natural shading and a slick of balm will finish the look nicely.
Pearl and the Puppets is one to watch so make sure you look her up........

My New Make Up Academy!
Just letting you in on a little insider news....!
I am soon to be opening my own Make Up Academy in Manchester along with my best friend Jenny Frost, aimed to teach those who want to become professional make up artists. We will also be offering training to those who simply want to learn to do their own make up better.
This is such an exciting project for me and I really cannot wait until we open the doors in December!
Myself and Jenny are both from Manchester and after the success we have both achieved we want to try and give others a chance to have the amazing opportunities that we had.
I won't say too much now but check out the website to find out more and I am sure you'll be reading about it soon!

Shine Control
There is nothing worse than having to constantly touch up your make up to tone down those annoying oily areas.
Adding powder constantly can give you a built up cakey finish to your make up and feel mask like on your skin. Instead try to use a mattifying product underneath your foundation. This only needs to be used in those area where you feel you gain excess shine. Throughout the day control excessive oils with blotting papers instead of adding powder everywhere. Choosing a fine loose powder can also be better then should you need to reapply in areas it will go on in a thin layer and you can target the area you need it with a small brush such as around the nostrils and over the top of the nose going into the forehead.
My choice of products are Mac matte which you put over your skin before make up or even if you aren't wearing any. It leaves a shine free finish and has a soft velvety texture.

Smoky eyes in 3 quick steps!
To create a smoky eye in the easiest possible way, follow the steps below.
1. Dip your finger into a pot of loose powder shadow and pat into the lower lid, blending up to the socket with small strokes and semi-circular movements
2. Line the lower lash line with a soft smudgy kohl pencil to create a heavy smoke. Line into the inner rim both on the bottom and top of the eye and use a cotton bud or your finger to run under the eye and blend your kohl line. The more you blend the smudgier the look
3. Coat your lashes with a volumising mascara both top and bottom. Apply a first coat and leave to dry before applying a second top up
For this look I have selected a few of my favourite products from the high street.....
Mac pigments come in a great range of colours all of which can go to create a smoky eye, Don't be fooled by thinking smoky means black everywhere, this is often the mistake people make. You can use any colour as the smoke is defined with the kohl pencil... that should of course be black.
It is important to have a long lasting pencil as if this wears off then you lose your impact eyes...
I love Bourjois 16hr kohl and contour. It lasts all night and is delicate in texture and ingredients, two very important factors when working with the eyes. It also has a built in sharpener which is brilliant if like me you have a tendancy to lose yours!
If you havn't tried this Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Care yet then do!
It adds super volume to your lashes and contains cotton oil and almond oil to nourish the lashes and help protect from pollutants. It is perfect for sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers.

At Home Pampering Facial
I spent last night working through, shooting the new video for Marina and the Diamonds. Needless to say after a long, outdoor, all night shoot I am feeling a little bedraggled and like my skin needs a pick me up.
This brings me onto my little tricks for a quick skin revival!
If you are like me and don't get chance to go to the salon and treat yourself to a facial, set up your own little spa and do it at home.
Start by lighting a nice scented candle to relax you and put on your favourite album to create a comfortable atmosphere.
Remove any old make up with a cleansing wipe.
Take your cleanser and place a large amount in the palms of your hand rubbing them together to ensure your hands are fully covered.
Use the palms of your hand and lay them one at a time flat on your neck and move with a little pressure upwards and to the jaw running the lower palm around the jawline from one side to another. Repeat this several times to work the cleanser into your skin and encourage micro circulation.
Use your fingertips and starting at the chin massage in small circular motions from the centre working outwards. Travel slowly up the face paying particular attention to the t-zone area.
Close your eyes and lay your fingers flat over your lids, with a light pressure massage out, down and under creating a circular massaging motion. Make sure your hands are still covered in cleanser to avoid pulling the skin.
Use a cotton bud dipped in cleanser to roll over your lashes in a downward motion to remove any old mascara or make up.
Use warm water to dampen cotton pads and remove any cleanser starting with the neck and working upwards and outwards.
Lay a hot damp flannel over your face and spend a minute just lying and relaxing.
Apply a hydrating mask in a thick layer all over the skin, avoiding the eye area and the hair line. Leave to work for the instructed time. Lay a warm damp cotton pad over your eyes and relax.
Use warm damp cotton pads to remove your mask in small upwards and outwards wipes.
Dip your finger in some lip balm and then into some sugar. Use small circular motions to smooth over the lips removing any chapped skin from the lips and leaving a silky smooth pout. Wipe away any left over sugar with a cotton pad.

Finish with a generous layer of a super creamy moisturiser.

The Classic Red Lip
I am loving the really natural make up look at the moment but when it needs a bit of ooomph to go from day to night you cannot go wrong with a chic red lip.
If you are unsure what red to wear then I'll make it simple for you....
1. Every skintone can carry a classic red
2. Make sure you use a moisturising texture as it is more wearable than matte.
3. Blot lips for a more subtle finish
My top 2 red lipsticks for you are....
Chanel Rouge Coco..... everyone needs a little Chanel in their life and this is my handbag's new best friend.
It has a luxurious finish to the packaging and feels amazing on your lips. I also love the heritage behind it, being first developed in 1954 by Mademoiselle herself, it has been revamped over the years with new technologies to the high standard of Make Up Artist Peter Phillips.
This is highly recommended!
Colour - Gabrielle
http://makeup.chanel.com/rougecoco/
Bourjois never get it wrong when it comes to colour and the new Sweet Kiss Les Rouges range has my vote!
There is a red to suit everyone.....
The colour is intense, yet the texture is light and it gives 8hr's of moisturisation.
I love the cutesy packaging and more than that I love the price tag!
£7.99 available from September in Boots, Superdrug and asos.com

Make Up Brushes!
A bad workman always blames his tools!
I am sure a lot of people don't realise this but a set of good brushes really will improve the application of your make up.... that is why us 'professionals' are so good.... we only use the best.
I am about to let you into a little insider secret..... Shu Uemura Brushes!
Now these little gems are what you call a luxury, they are quite simply the best brushes around. You can always tell a nice brush when you touch your skin with it and it is baby soft. The effectiveness of these brushes are reflected in the price so don't expect to go out and buy a full set in one go...... why not start off by putting them on your birthday and Christmas lists and treating yourself to one every time you fancy a shopping spree. Great brushes are an investment and will last forever.
Available from She Uemura shops, Space NK, Harvey Nichols, Liberty and online
http://www.shuuemura.com/product/accessories.html
A tip for cleaning your brushes is to dip them into warm soapy water. Fairy liquid will help dissolve any grease and remove stubborn stains. Try not to over clean your brushes with a brush cleaner as too much can dry them out. An occasional dip in water with conditioner will help keep them super soft... but make sure you rinse them out! Leave to dry naturally upright in a glass or hanging over the edge of a flat surface so you don't change the shape of the end of the brush.

HD Brows
I have always had a bit of an issue with my eyebrows. They are super fair and very sparse so everyday I spend time drawing them in, then combing them through to make them look natural... a lengthy task for even me as a make up artist! I rarely wear much make up on a daily basis so for me this is simply a chore.
When I heard about these HD Brows I was immediately intrigued, I had to have them!
The process consists of tinting your brows, staining the skin, waxing around the edges and threading away any strays. I was a bit worried while lay on the bed, wondering what I was going to look like but my Therapist herself had amazing brows so I knew I was in safe hands. The treatment took around 10 minutes and I was advised that 6 sessions would have my brows in tip top shape.
The result is what I can only describe as AMAZING!
For the first time, I woke up today, looked in the mirror and felt like a normal person. I was almost skipping down the road on my way to a meeting completely make up free and feeling confident.
The concept has been designed by Nilam Patel, a leading permanent make up artist. I myself would be a little scared to go for the semi permanent brows straight away so this is a great way to see how you could look if you ever wanted to take the plunge.
If you think lash extensions are good, this has to be your next step.

Make the most of your foundation
The summer months we get away without having to wear foundation as much. You've been on holiday, have a nice base tan and the humid weather steers you away from wanting to be made up.
Then comes Autumn.... the tan is starting to fade, the sun isn't shining and you feel you need a little coverage if only for an evening out.
Choose a foundation that is a good all rounder. A radiant finish is always good for giving a healthy complexion and a good coverage will be great when you need that extra help.
In the meantime when you want a light finish you can use either one of these tips ......
Mix a little foundation with your moisturiser to create a lighter coverage
or
Apply your foundation to the centre of your face, over the cheeks and nose and use a damp brush to blend out to the edges of your face.

Lasting Lift for Lashes!
All us girls want our lashes pointing upwards in a perfect fan shape but unfortunately we aren't all blessed with that naturally.
My top tip for curling your lashes and making them last longer is one I learnt from one of my idols, Twiggy!
Slightly heat your eyelash curlers for 20 seconds under your hairdryer, allowing them to become warm. Touch the back of your hand with them to check they are not too hot and won't burn you!
Clamp your lashes in them, leaving them in place for as long as you can...... 30secs should be ok...... enough time for them to cool. The heat will act as a blow dry for your lashes and give them extra staying power.
Add a coat of mascara, leave to dry and them give one more quick curl. The mascara will act as a fixant to really hold the lashes upright.
Avoid any fads and go for a good old fashioned pair of curlers!

My Khaki Obsession
I am currently obsessed with the khaki colour for eyes in my anticipation of Autumn/Winter as you will notice by all the khaki products I am going to bombard you with.
The next in my sights is Smashbox Liquid liner and lash overlay in Teal.
Okay, so it's not exactly khaki but teamed with a nude contour and a luscious lash I am definitely feeling it as a glam version of this trend for the new season. It also comes in gold which is a fabulous alternative to the green.
The liner brush is fuller to create a heavier line and by patting it into the lid you can get a grungier finish.
The mascara wand grooves in the applicator allow you to sweep a glisten of colour over the tips of your lashes too.

Lay it on the line!
So for so long I refused to use lip liner and now they are back in full swing I think I need to give my advice on how to do it right!
It can be a scary thought if you are not a natural at it so here are a few tips to ease you in.
1. Choose a shade that is the same colour as your lippy. A different tone of liner and lipstick are strictly for high fashion and are not to be worn in Waitrose
2. Rest your elbow on a table or on your knee to get a steady sweep in your wrist action. You liner should be on your lip line itself or very slightly over. You can change your lip shape subtly but must never go completely outside the lipline
3. Start by lightly feathering tiny dots/dashes in the centre of the cupids bow, working up and out. Do the v shape first
4. Continue by lining from the highest point of the lip line in one swift movement down to the corners of the mouth. A slight stretch of your lips over your teeth will help keep the skin taught foe a sleeker finish
5. Start on the lower lip at the outer corner and work into the middle, again with taught lips. Move to the opposite corner and draw again into the middle until the two lines meet
6. Now you have your basic line you can go over any areas that may need strengthening with small, quick strokes
7. Run your finger lightly around the edge of your lip line to blend.
8. Blot with a tissue
9. Re-line
10. Add lippy
